And Trains Again...

<p>&lt;p&gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The night train is quite a different creature from the day train... From Paris to Amsterdam we had luxery seats, free (really bad) food &amp;amp; complimentary drinks, and wifi. We were cozy, well spaced, and mostly kept to ourselves (well except when I had to get to know the our "neighbors"...) &lt;/p&gt;<br>
&lt;p&gt;Our night train from Amsterdam to Copenhagen was very different. We arrived at our cabin to find Alex and Emily... our bunk mates. It's a strange feeling knowing you are about to spend several hours in the dark with strangers you know nothing about. There are&nbsp; only two logical solutions to sleeping with strangers... either get to know them as quickly as possible or small talk for a minute and then never speak again unless necessary. </p>
<p>The four of us chose the former, and covered a range of topics during our time together (politics, children, jobs, stories from home, legos...)</p> We now have a lovely opinion of Sweden and the country's super awesome citizens *wink, wink*

Alex and Emily provided us with a very positive first train experience despite the fact that the actual train ride was nothing like we expected. We though we would have a dining car.... Nope. We thought we would have s lounge car... Huh-uh. We thought that it would be more like going to Hogwarts... Most certainly not. No one came to our cabin to offer any sort of food, let alone a cart full of magical sweets.

The beds were very, very flat and a bit hard. However! I think that I prefer to the plane. There is nothing good about being in a plane over night unless you paid for a bed-like seat. Being on a train... really not so bad.

Currently, I am writing this from our second over night train from Copenhagen  to Prague. We have two new bunk mates... (1) A traveler from China who was so grateful we took the time to try and communicate with him that he gave us friendship bracelets; and (2) Clara, a native to Prague, that we pucked up in Kolding, Germany about an hour ago. Both are very sweet, but not very social. Alex and Emily, you have set the bar high for good train companions.
